Business information warehouse (BW) BW is Business Information
Warehouse which is used widely in SAP system for reporting and OLAP.
Its a reporting tool which is used by SAP modules to do reporting
and analysis to business data instead of traditionally R/3 ABAP
reporting. Based on Multi-Dimension Cubes concept and BEx and Web
Query Analyzer, its easy to grasp and generate any kinds of
reporting to meet managerial and business requirements. Compared to
traditionally ABAP R/3 reporting, its more flexing, and convenient
to use. By the greatest effort to reduce programming for reporting
and thats the purpose for BW reporting tool, it greatly reduces the
reporting implementing time. Just by building corresponding data
source, info source and info target for business requirement, then
go to BEx or Web Query Analyzer to drag and drop, BW can generate
fantastic reporting results with very flexible format and satisfy
customers needs.
BW has features like and unlike typical data warehouses. Like most
data warehouses, BW is a combination of databases and database
management tools that are used to support management decision
making. SAP BW is a comprehensive business intelligence product
centered around a data warehouse and optimized for SAP's R/3
environment. SAP BW also includes preconfigured data extractors,
analysis and report tools and business process models. It is an
integral component of the company's mySAP Business Intelligence
group of products.
The objective of data warehousing is to analyze data from diverse
sources to support decision making.
BW has started from 2000 for stable version 2.0 and widely used from
2003. More and more job market requirement for this module since
every SAP module uses it as reporting tool to replace traditionally
ABAP reports.
