Carol Huynh (pronounced /wɪn/;[1] born November 16, 1980) is a Canadian freestyle wrestler.[2] Her mother, an ethnic Chinese, was born in Vietnam; her father was born in China but moved to Vietnam as a young child.[3][4] Born in British Columbia, her parents were refugees from Vietnam who settled in the town of Hazelton after being sponsored by the local United Church.[5] Coming from a wrestling family, where both of her sisters wrestled, she started wrestling at 15. [6] She started studies at Simon Fraser University in 1998 [2], then moved to the University of Calgary in 2007.[7] Huynh married Dan Biggs, a social worker and former wrestler, in 2005. [8] She is coached by Leigh Vierling, husband of former multiple women's wrestling world champion Christine Nordhagen.[9]

She competed in the 48 kg weight class at the 2008 Summer Olympics, winning a gold medal. She is the second ever female medallist for Canada in Olympic wrestling, after Tonya Verbeek, the 2004 Athens freestyle silver medallist.[7] Huynh was the first gold medalist in women's wrestling for Canada.
