ALL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES ARE FREE CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS Kids Get Active NEW TIME Mondays from 3:30-5:30 at our YWCA downtown location. Children and their parents are welcome to play games in the gym then join us for pizza! All ages of children are welcome. Drop In Child Care Child Care is available for parents attending appointments in the downtown core. Families must register in advance with the centre and provide emergency contact information. Please call Christina at 262 0497 for space and time availability. At our YWCA of Calgary downtown location. Stay and Play *NEW* Monday mornings from 10:00-12:00, for families with children ages 3-5. We will meet at Parent Link Corridor, YWCA of Calgary and walk over to the McDougall Court Playground in Bridgeland. Bring a hat, water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen and don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes! Children’s Birthday Cards Each child registered with Parent Link Corridor receives a birthday card in the mail, with an invitation to visit our YWCA of Calgary downtown location to pick a special birthday book. Need a space for a birthday party? Book our playroom for children under 6 years old at the YWCA of Calgary downtown location. PARENT/CAREGIVER PROGRAMS Out & About Tuesdays from 1:30-3:30 starting June 17th. Join us for walks along the river and to children’s parks and playgrounds. Come and meet other parents and let the children play together. YWCA downtown location Parent Workshops *NEW* New sessions of Positive Choices starting July 17th for 7 weeks. Parent discussions include children’s play, understanding children’s perspectives, children’s growth and development, guidance strategies and parent’s self care. Free child care provided. At our YWCA downtown location. Healthy Babies Network Parent Link Corridor now has provisions from Healthy Babies Network for parents with children under 12 months. These include vitamin D drops, gift certificates (limited supply) for grocery stores and pre natal vitamins. As well as referrals to all Healthy Babies Network agencies. YWCA of Calgary downtown location. FAMILY PROGRAMS Summer Family Swim Program *NEW* Saturday July 19 & 26, August 2, 9 & 16 from 1:00-3:00. Join us for an afternoon of fun in the swimming pool at the YWCA fitness on Fifth. All families welcome! For more information call Christina at 262 0497. Picnics in the Park *NEW* Wednesdays starting July 23rd from 11:00-1:00. Pack a lunch for you and your child and join us as we explore different playgrounds and green spaces in the Calgary downtown core. Meeting place will be the Parent Link Corridor at the YWCA of Calgary. Family Literacy Friday Join us every Friday from 9:30-11:30. Story time, music, books, art, painting and a special trip to the library. All families are welcome. Parent Link Corridor YWCA downtown location. Did you know? Every Friday morning from 9:00-10:00 CUPS runs a children’s clothing give away. All families are welcome. SPECIAL EVENTS Join us on Tuesday, August 19 at 10:30 for our first annual Teddy Bear’s Picnic. Pick out a Teddy Bear and then join us for lunch and activities in the park. Lunch will be provided for families to pack. Join us on Tuesday, August 26 from 1:00-3:00 for our first annual Back to School Party. A free, fun family event with snacks, games, crafts, door prizes and goodie bags. This event is being held at the Parent Link Corridor, YWCA of Calgary. Girls aged 9-14 are invited to join us on Wednesday July 16th for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! A fun afternoon of arts and crafts, music and fashion. Starts at 12:00 with lunch and creating ice cream sundaes for dessert. At the YWCA downtown location. Special Thanks Thank you to the families who attended our second Parent Advisory Dinner Meeting. We appreciate and value parent’s feedback and ideas around children’s, parent’s and family events and programs. Some of the new ideas that families will see included in upcoming months include parent workshops about: Internet safety for children, Safety for school aged children when they are home alone, Cross cultural parenting, Media influences on school aged children (magazines, television, and internet) and Infant care and health. If parents have other questions or ideas for workshops please call the office and let us know, we will do our best to find the resources and information you need. The Children’s Book and Toy Lending Libraries and the Parent Resource Library are very helpful and convenient for all families to use.
