My power supply blow up
My PSU blow up the other day when i woke up my machine, i saw some sparks coming out of the box. Then I replaced the power before I found that none of USB port is working. The symptom is 1. There is power from USB as the LED is on when I plug in my portable HD, but OS cannot recognize it. 2. None of USB device is recognized, including USB key, mice, keyboard. 3. The PS/2 mouse port is not working either 4. When I open device manager, under USB controllers, there is one device is unknown, which supposed to be Generic USB controller. Other USB Root Hub and controller seem to be fine. After I delete the unknown device and reinstall, it's still unknown and says cannot find the driver. Next day, that unknown device disappear and USB is still not working. I tried to reinstall OS, USB are still not working. My guess is the MB is toasted by the faulty power supply. I didn't see any component on the MB is burned or have any smoke smell. Here my question is what else I should check before I buy a new MB? My computer has 4G RAM, DDR2, Core 2 Duo 2.13G (Socket 775), any good MB under $100 with PCIx16 to recommend? Thanks |
