about the tax

Dear all, I have one question to get your help.

Two years ago I landed Vancouver of BC as a permanent resident from USA, then I stayed in USA for two years, then came back to Ontario this august. In the past two years, I never reported the tax to canada. It is correct from my understanding because I came to canada only to keep the permanet resident status two years ago, I have no any relation with canaca with healthy card, bank, housing and so on. I guess my resident status in canada should start from this august and report the income and tax from this year, while I am quite not sure it is right or not.
