I do not know how to repair US car even I have driven US Cars more than 6 years in Canada.

What I need to do on normal maintenance? Engine Oil Change in shop, Air filter chang by myself. Adding engine oil and coolant by myself.

I never drive Japanese car, so I do not know if you need to change engine oil, air filter..... If this will dirty your hand, I will feel sad and say sorry to you.

Which manafacturers is better? Based upon your budget. If you like Japanese car, than buying it. Anyway I like US car because it is big and make me feel safe. About gas consumption? I do not know. My old 1989 Chrysler NewYork (3.0L, V6) is average9.7L/100km, my 2000 Montana (3.4L, V6) is average 12.8L/100km. Do not know Japanese V6, 3.0L car or Van gas consumption.You tell me.

I never drive my car more than 140km/hr in Calgary. 150km/hr? Are you kidding the cops in Calgary?

好吧, 我们来看份正式的J.D. POWER的质量长期跟踪报告, 在过去三年内(2002-2005), 平均每一百辆车, 各个牌子到底REPORT了多少个问题了呢?

答案是: TOYOTA 194个问题, HONDA 201个问题, FORD 231个问题, CHRYSLER 235个问题, 质量是有差距的, 但是并非天地之别, 平均1.94个问题一辆车, 或者平均2.35个问题一辆车, 应该不会造成黑手白手的巨大区别吧

那么GM的数据呢? 嘿嘿, GM集团比较巨大, 属下牌子众多, BUICK, CADILLAC都是位于前5名, 其中的中档车品牌BUICK以区区163个问题, 领先了TOYOTA好几名

好吧, 我们来看份正式的J.D. POWER的质量长期跟踪报告, 在过去三年内(2002-2005), 平均每一百辆车, 各个牌子到底REPORT了多少个问题了呢?

不可能，美国烂车怎么可能比日本永动机好？你脑子不好使就赶紧补点脑黄金。
至于你说得我认为根本就是那个破报告没有广泛听取广大日本永动机fans（比如电工兄弟）的意见，因此可以忽略不记。

Now, my suggestion is:
1) Buy a new car from dealer
2) Buy extra full warranty at the same time when you buy the car, for example 7-10 years one
3) Once your warranty expired, then you can have two choices:
a. Sell it to people like GOGOGO, who likes to fix car problems by themselves and you buy another new car.
b. Make yourself a person like GOGOGO, who can fix problems by yourself and keep you old car and enjoy the work.

So, if you still can have any complain, that must be complain to yourself about didn't listen to my suggestion

"Sell it to people like GOGOGO" is impossible and will never can be ture, because 10 years old Camry is still very very expensive, more than doubled price of my 10 years old Taurus. From my view, IT IS A CAR, they are same and no difference to me at all, why do I pay more for same thing?

BTW, be careful of any extra full warranty, you have to pay money to a qualified dealer to do service within this 10 years to maintain the warranty valid

Sure, you have to do maintainence to your car even you don't have that warranty. And at dealer's shop, the price is listed cheaper than other normal shop, but probably expensive than some self-employed guys who said that they can fix your car.

Camry only ask for change oil each 8000km or 6 months driving. I even think it's too less.

My suggestion is: Pay money to licensed dealer and get professional service, which is the right way to save money

1. At dealer's shop, the price is not listed cheaper than other normal shop, especially licensed chinese garage

2. Goto licensed chinese garage to get the right advice about "Camry only ask for change oil each 8000km or 6 months driving. I even think it's too less."

3. I don't know any other self-employed car guy, but I know GoGoGo only maintains his own two cars + his closest friend's Accord. If you ask GoGoGo to do oil change, he would charge you $30 labor + oil + filter which is much more expensive than any dealer's professional service. GoGoGo is interested in investigating 灵异 problem actually, he may asked $15/hour for his time after he fixed the problem, if you only want free lunch, don't bother him

Toyota warranty dosen't limit customer to choose any licensed Toyota dealer to do their maintenance, actually, customer can choose their favourite one from Toyota's customer service web site, they all have the same price and quality, people won't care about whether it's a Chinese one or not.

So far as many people 's experience in this forum (See related posts), Chinese garage are seldom good. That's why there comes many people like GOGOGO who want to repair and maintain their car by themselves.

从数量上说是差的不多，但如果差的全在质的方面呢？你用百分之10的精力可以修好百分之90的故障，剩下的百分之10故障得耗你百分之90的精力，一般如此。就像体育极限一样，要有一点点的突破都很困难。所以很小的差别能反映大问题。一般人不懂车，更不用说DIY了。对这些人来讲修车要搭时间、精力和由此产生的一系列闹心的事，还不如买一辆传说中质量可靠的车了。当然对你来讲可能体会不到修车的辛苦与闹心，你把这都当成了乐趣，可我们不行，小捅咕还凑合，大一点的就干瞪眼了。大家争论的没有道理，你们说的不是一回事，都没有站在对方的角度来考虑问题。你们都想想，换个角度考虑一下，丑狗老弟如果一点不懂车，还要上班，还要管孩子，做家务等等，修了几次车，还碰到几个车行都没查出毛病的，只好上网求助有门、狗狗大侠了，反复了若干次，等了若干天，吃了若干的炸鸡腿，车终于好了，正当高兴之余引擎灯又亮了，，，，，这时故障率微小的降低，对你来说恐怕都是致命的诱惑，你买什么车？

再说电工等人，两田的车确实价位高了，尤其二手车。日车的性能没有达到其价格所至，缺点也是一大堆，一般懂车的（不包括电工）、年轻的和有点特殊要求的都不选。还是丑狗老弟那句话，价位太高。

如果有时间、精力，可以用时间换钱，像我们刚移民到这来一样，买菜时逛遍所有的超市，那不妨选美车，物有所值，车豪华、舒适、起步快、配件便宜。否则选日车，耽误一天时间少挣1、2百，几次下来钱就够了。
