Salt Spring Island Fall Fair

Hello everyone,

The Salt Spring Island Fall Fair will be taking place this weekend. Sept 18th and 19th. It's an agricultural fair so expect to see lots of animals and farmers showcasing the fruits (pun intended) of their labor. Lots of food venues to sample locally grown/raised food and produce as well.

There are horse competitions/demonstrations in the riding ring (ours will be staying home unfortunately this year), petting zoo type areas and sometimes rides for the kids, live music (some good... some not so good :P kidding... sort of lol... depends on your taste lol) . Great event to bring the kids though and hang out for the day.

Directions:

1) Get on Ferry in Sidney,
2) Get off Ferry in Fulford Harbour.
3) Follow majority of the ferry traffic until you hit Ganges (some vehicles may turn right shortly after you get off the ferry and go up the hill, but most will round the corner and go left, which is what you want to do).
4) Don't make any turns off the road and after about 15 minutes you will enter Ganges.
5) Once you go through town and pass the fire hall on your right (which will take about 5 seconds :P ), you will see a cross walk with crossing lights. Turn left onto this road and you will be on Rainbow Rd.
6) after about 1km you will see the farmers institute on your left. Lots of cars and people will be around it so will be hard to miss.


Note: If you go to salt spring more than once a year it might be wise to invest in something called a BC Ferries Experience card. You can pick them up at the terminal and use them right away for your trip. They save you about 30% of the ferry cost but are only good for island trips (i.e. can't use it for going to Vancouver). They work just like pre-paid cards that you get at stores. Have to load them up with a minimum of $85 and then you just use it instead of cash or credit cards after that. The 30% discount will be automatically applied.
