Peel Police said Tuesday that human remains discovered Tuesday afternoon inside a Markham house could be those of a man who was kidnapped in January.

The remains may be that of real estate agent Tony Han, who along with another man, Jun Fei, was kidnapped from a 15-room mansion on Featherston Dr. in Mississauga.

Han, 44, an agent with Home Life/Landmark Realty’s Markham office, had been trying to sell the home for several months.

Fei, 40, who was found alive and in good health about a week later, is administrator of a numbered company that owns the estate, worth nearly $2.4 million.

Police say that their investigation led them to the Markham house Tuesday at about 2 p.m. Police won’t say whether the house was vacant. They confirmed it was not Han’s home, but would not say whether he had any other link to the house.

A cadaver dog detected remains in the basement of the house and late in the day those remains were being exhumed. Police would not give any details as to what led them to that house.

Const. Thomas Ruttan said the family of Han has been notified.

“We wanted the family to be aware of this discovery,” he said.

On Jan. 20, at about 12 p.m., Peel police responded to the Featherston Dr. home after a complaint about two missing men. Inside they discovered signs of a struggle.

Police learned the two men had been kidnapped.

On Jan. 26, one of the men kidnapped, Fei, who goes by the name Johnny, was located in Don Mills, five days after Han’s black Mercedes was found in the same area.

Since then police have identified several individuals they believe to have been involved in the kidnapping.

Four people have been charged so far with two counts of kidnapping with intent to hold for ransom, and police are looking for a fifth man.

Senthuran Sabesan, 23, of Waterloo was arrested in January and in June, Hinthurjin Baskaran, 21, of Toronto, was arrested.

Two adults who cannot be named due to a publication ban have also been arrested.

In January, police issued a warrant for the arrest of Guo Wei Wu, 43, of no fixed address on kidnapping and ransom charges.

The warrant is still outstanding.

Wu is described as Asian, 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
