I heard from CBC radio this morning and a senior insider from Alberta oil/gas industry commented that the cancelled oil sand projects will affect 2000 permanent jobs (EPC) in Alberta. However, some up-graders are being ground-built in several American states now. The reason is the costs and it is about 50% of costs here. The AB energy minister is upset with oil industry. You could imagine the total costs in AB when a carpenter earns $40-$80/hour from the oil patches.
