If you are talking about eczema, you may like to consult your baby's dermatologist about "Elidel(pimecrolimus) Cream 1%". It is steroid-free prescription cream for eczema. You may want to look at eczemaFAQ for helping your little one. Take care. *** When life gives you lemons, then make lemonade. |

I know my friend uses "Pure Baby Eczema Bath Therapy with Biotin & Baking Soda" and "Pure Baby Eczema Care" for her baby's routine care, which is very helpful for her baby -- reduces the frequence and serious degree. According to her understanding, there is no better way to cure infantile eczema completely right now. A way that a mother could be helpful is to well care her precious one routinely and remeber what are the factors that cause its happening then avoid those factors. Hopefully, most children's eczema will go away when they grow up. By the way, the above mentioned baby could develop her eczema when there is overheating (e.g. dress too heavy in a warm house with heater on) or there is a big temperature changing (e.g. from warm house to cold outside in winter) or it is too dry. She has no chance to taste seafood yet Another thing is, lactose free formula may fit some infants better. *** When life gives you lemons, then make lemonade. |

Thanks my friend for her kindness that shares her note with us.
quote:
Infantile eczema is a broad term used to describe dry, itchy inflammation of the skin occurring most commonly among children under the age of two. Many cases of infantile eczema disappear by the age of three. The first signs of infantile eczema usually develop by the age of three months. Red, scaly, sometimes oozing patches typically appear on the baby's cheeks, followed by inflammation of the scalp, arms and legs. In toddlers and older children, the patches are drier, and they occur mainly on the neck, wrists and ankles, and in the creases of the elbows and the knees. In severe cases, the affected skin becomes thick and leathery. Eczema rashes are extemely itchy, and they tend to make children cranky and irritable. Eczema is essentially harmless, but it can make a child miserable. The following guidelines can help parents stop the itch-scratch-itch cycle. ? Keep fingernails and toenails short and clean to minimize scratching. If scratching is severe, wrap the baby's hands in soft cotton gloves or socks and pin them to the shirt cuffs. ? Bathe the child in lukewarm water only a few times a week, using a mild, moisturizing bath and nonsoap cleanser. ? Use skin moisturizers frequently. ? Dress the child in soft, all-cotton fabrics. Avoid wool and rough materials. ? Avoid hairy, furry stuffed animals and dolls. ? Launder clothes in mild detergent, and rinse well. ? Avoid extremes of temperatures and excessive perspiration. ? Make sure your child gets enough rest. ? Try to identify irritating substances and eliminate them form the child's diet and environment. Call your doctor if your child: ? Shows indictaions of infection, such as oozing blisters, yellow crusts, severe inflammation or fever. ? Comes into close contact with someone who has active cold sores caused by a herpes infection. This can lead to possibly serious complications.

*** When life gives you lemons, then make lemonade. [This message was edited by suiyueran on February 28, 2004 at 10:49.] |

My daughter has similar problem. She starts to have eczema right after her first month. And it's all over her face with yellow water. Now she is much better. Only a little red spot on the face, and I even don't need to apply any medicine. Looking back I did: 1) Keep baby's skin dry and clean. Especially when she vomit some milk. Change her cloth ASAP. vomitted milk will stimulate eczema. 2) I stop eating any fish, shrimp, and even milk. And any other "fa(1) de (1) shi(2) pin(3)" 3) only use 100% cotten stuff 4) Apply "郁美净" to the red spot. Use 2% boric acid water "shi(1) fu(1)" to the place with yellow water. then apply 郁美净. 5) clear washcloth by microwave before use ( heat over one minute) to avoid infection. 6) buy a humudifier. Hope this can help. 6) open window to keep the tempature around 25C |
