MER = management expense ratio
Every mutual fund charge this fee. This is what I talked about in my last post. About 2%, depends on what kind of mutural fund you invested. The reported price is after deduction of MER. So my report tells me the real value.

Similar to an MER, those companies that sell RESP GROUP PLAN charge an Administration and Portfolio Management Fee annually. THey may charge a depository fee too. A Membership/Registeration fee of certain amount (maybe $100 or more), usually per unit, will be charged too. They say they will refund you when your child start to use the money, but you may never know how much you get refunded because everything including your earning, is in there.

我买了，原因是被卖RESP的循环追杀轰炸，直到我买了才死心。不过买的是最小的unit。本来是准备在银行买的，不过领导坚持要买group，最后折中。

老婆还是大肚子的时候，去中国超市就被好几茬的卖RESP的人盯上了，一次一次地打电话骚扰。

都说RESP是好东西，有政府补贴，高回报，干嘛还要那么费劲地推销？感觉比传销还卖劲，不正常。

通过Agent购买RESP，是不是要付服务费？自己开设RESP帐号，是不是就把那笔费用非省了？

A lot of white and black family don't buy RESP as far as I know.

There are also a lot of people sell life insurance for commission. These are high commission business.

坛子里卖RESP的不少，但谁也不说到底卖一个提多少钱。我要说了，怕要引起那些人的不满。这么说吧，卖出一个，commission比打1类伯工一个月的工资还高，而且恨多花消可以抵税。

我也卖RESP, 不过不是group的, 是银行那种, 叫individual的. 我卖一个, 如果不是卖的DSC fund的话, 我一分钱不挣. 如果卖一个DSC fund, 我挣3.1%. 我知道group的要高得多, 可能1000左右吧.
随便你在哪里买RESP, 问题的关键是你想不想为你小孩存钱, 如果不想, 那不要讨论这个, 如果想, 还是买一个吧.

CST,UST等公司的RESP是无法transfer的,否则损失巨大.

请不要误导.

俺家每个月要交近2000加币的税，俺也不想买RRSP,因为退休了想回国。RRSP的份额都让给老婆买，好像也不够足。想多生些宝宝。

不对吧，RESP用完了后就可以申请贷款了。听我朋友说的，人家孩子都大3了。

听说孩子上大学时，ｒｅｓｐ抵消部分政府助学贷款额度。上学期间贷款无利息，毕业后利息较高。　
个人认为，假如孩子很小，又不打算买房，还有闲钱，可买。假如孩子上９年级，又打算买房，优先还房款，ｒｅｓｐ投资收益不切定，不买。

将来读大学的费用将会是天价，。。。我个人认为那时我的工资也是天价，天价对天价，有什么好怕的。

请问买了$2000 RESP后，政府什么时候才会给$400的CESG grant? 等一个月，两个月，6个月。。。？谢谢。

Bought $2000 CST at 2002, then I bought my house at 2003, no money for RESP at that year, want to stop contributing, however the agent told me I can NOT stop and I have to buy $2000 every year, if I stop or withdraw, I will lose almost every dollar! So I decide to take $2000 lost rather than lose more later. Finally, they gave me back around $180.

Then I went to TD, open RESP mutual fund account, so far so good, if you withdraw, all you need to do is return 1/6 (400/2000) to government, no further hiding fee.

TIPS: they said they are non-profit org, WHY? The reason is they use most of the profit to pay their commission and operation fee, the org is NO profit!

我还算有点闲钱，孩子也不大，但是我就没有买resp，因为将来上大学，孩子可以贷款啊（如果没有实力资助）
