I was visited yesterday by Steve Krampf, CEO of Chestnut Hill Sound and designer of the George sound system. As we walked from our 6th floor lobby down the long hall to my office, the conversation somehow turned to various loudspeaker drivers. (That's just something that happens when you're in our office.)
"Are you an audiophile?" I asked seriously.

"I'd say I'm more of an anti-audiophile," he replied.

"An anti-audiophile?" I asked seriously.

"I guess that's enough to get me kicked out of here," he replied.

"Well, that depends on what you mean by anti-audiophile."

I really don't care about the labels. We can call ourselves audiophiles, we can call ourselves music lovers, we can even call ourselves "DUPs." If we share that powerful, almost irrational, appreciation for music and we share that urge to have our music sound as wonderful as possible, then we're speaking the same language.

It only took a couple of minutes with Steve Krampf for me to realize that we were, in fact, similar in some ways.

I certainly didn't kick him out of the office.

from my memory about SACD, both SACD and high-res flac are very much alike, very detail, also detail is the reason why I switched to use DAC. (Thanks Ken!)

The downside of SACD or high-res is that in small system, the sound don't have as much weight as regular CD.
