先说说我们家庭情况,我们在提交申请时,就制定了详细计划.
我们家就我老婆和我,虽然年纪不小(31),但还是不敢要小孩,不然大人吃苦小孩受罪.
大家都知道英文的重要性,由于我一直在外企工作前几年工作比较忙，我只有派老婆去英国读书得了一个master文凭。这样她的英文交流就没有多少问题了。
我也有过一些出差去国外的机会，英文不算很好，但是去酒吧找老外吹牛的水平还是有的。
我们为提高英文，我们已经1年没有看国内的电视了，只看CNN, HBO, Starmovie......
我自己觉得听力还可以,但是说得时候表达方式比较单一，
目前，我倒是比较闲，也不知道是否需要去考个toefl? 或者其他的。
我算是software engineer吧，但是现在写程序少，和老外conference call多(讨论需求，接口，测试等。)这样也不知道是好是坏。
我老婆也是经常和老外conference call，下个月还要去南非开会，她上班的时候还有一个美国同事，有时候还可以请教一个英语。 前几天开车被人追尾，问他才知道英文等于rear ended.
我们在国内有车，老婆和我都会开车。我也作好了，找不到好工作做labor的决心。
但是，我的同事2年前去温哥华，才去3个月就在nokia找到一个工作，现在还在nokia,我问他如何找到工作的，他说运气也比较重要的。
我的朋友同学中大多数都找到工作(不是labor)，我觉得我如果足够努力也会成功的，但是我要足够的smart在新环境中改变自己。
还有就是我在这看了大家的很多经验，也谢谢大家。

Why not dicusss culture difference with local people ? I never give up any opportunity which lead me to understand other enthic group's culture. Conversation is not interview, even you made some mistake, no one will laugh at you .

我倒是觉得金子在什么地方都发光，如果在国内是个loser,不会因为换个地方就马上成为winner.

The latest topic is girl after you drink with native man, in my mind, there is not any gap of culture between Chinese and Canada. Most of our gap is in our mind, please release yourself and open your mind.
I am very famous in our company Ireland branch, just because I drank too much and vomit, but Irish like any kind of ale, etc.
They do not like anyone, who can't drink with them.

First of all, Irish is really famous of its drinking cluture. I was barterder, the most regular customers are Irish.

Secondlly, I agree with what you said about cluture difference. After 1 year relationship with my canadian boyfriend, I found there's no real big gap bewteen Canadian cluture and chinese cluture. What I see is only different personality. The most human nature are similar.

Last ,I think you will be sucessfuy in Canada . From what you said , you have all the important traits to live in this country,which are confidence, asservertivness, open mind, well-round communication skills .

All your accomplishment in China may not be recogonized at first. Your management skills mean nothing here. English is important, the bad thing is for a programmer it is secondary, for a manager your English is not good enough.

Your wife should be much easier with a British master degree.

说得一点没错，你在国内的境遇越好，来了之后的失落就越大。加拿大的工作不是聊出来的，你来了就知道了，不想打击你，但是真的，最好别来。

是的,不到加拿大是不知道这里找工作有多难. 光是一个象国内营业员一类的工作就有二三十个人被找去一起面试, 你即使在国内曾经多么地辉煌,很大的可能还是被一句THANK YOU打发掉了......连想去洗碗.当服务员他们都不给你机会,说要证书要经验.

最近IT形势较好, 你的情况应该能找分专业工作. 建议你能拿一分或以上鬼老出的REFERENCE过来, 再去找JOB AGENT会很有用. 话说回来, 你得做好从基层做起的心理准备, 比如说从CODING开始. GOOD LUCK.

巨同意这句话，哪个过来不是这样？哪个过来不是对自己的英文充满信心与自信的？
接触到几个男性网友，技术不错，英文也不错，但是。。。。但是。。。。几经挫折以后就爬不起来了。然后今天想做做这个，明天想转转那行。对呀，毕竟人是要生存生活下去的。这样，一晃就很久很久了。再想要回到这个飞速发展的领域，赛过是见多么奢侈的事情。
要知道在这个领域混口饭吃是需要面对多少残酷的竞争，一个不小心就被它永远地抛弃了。

在国内的鬼佬和这里的鬼佬是不一样的，国内的鬼佬天天面对的是我们这类英文听力不好，口语又不好的中国同事。他们当然要放慢语速，把语言简单到你能够听懂。但是来到加拿大后，鬼佬们才不会理睬你听得懂听不懂呢。看看resume，如果感兴趣的话，打个电话问一问。如果其中有一句话没听懂，你可以让他重复一次，但是如果你回答错了，或再让他重复一次，可能你的面世机会就泡汤去了。
这里的鬼佬多数只认得加拿大和美国的学历。其他国家的资历，除非英国剑桥这种非常有名气的学校，否则都会被他们归到一类中去。也别指望他们会去哪里搜索以下这个学校的背景和资料。
英文好，又有心理准备而来当然最好了，但也别指望别人能够在多久多久中能够找到，你也一定能够在这一段时间中找到。记住：加拿大的工作机会永远都是比国内少很多倍的。
看得出楼主对未来充满了信心与希望，如果在未来多多少少次跌倒以后，你依然能够爬的起来，依然有着不可动摇的信念，永不消沉的意志。那么，"成功"只不过是个迟早的事情。
PS: 来加拿大的多半都是smart的，而且希望在新环境中改变自己的人。不想改变的人，现在一定在国内，他们是不会愿意出来的。
