As a Piping Engineer you will be expected to support the mentoring of the engineers-in-training. In addition to communicating design issues to the project teams, the Piping Engineer will be encouraged to work closely with process, mechanical, instrumentation engineers within the group. Candidates must have registration as a Professional Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of related engineering and or administrative experience in the mining or oil and gas industry. This includes performing hydraulic analysis to size piping, performing static stress analysis understanding corrosion and erosion and the basis of piping design for mill systems. Candidates will have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or have equivalent knowledge and experience working in a piping engineering role specializing in process piping and design. This position requires work on assignments with both conceptual and detailed design approaches and involves the production of detailed piping deliverables for construction. Responsibilities will include assigning and reviewing work of subordinate Engineers and support staff, assessing performance of subordinates and making recommendations concerning staff selection, training, and discipline. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a diligent work ethic, a strong technical background, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a highly specialized team environment. Senior Piping Designer Wardrop Engineering Mining Division is currently seeking Senior Piping Designers to join their team of designers on multiple projects at Saskatoon Office. As a Senior Piping Designer you will be expected to be able to work in a 3D environment and be comfortable in the use of CADWorx Plant Professional, CADWorx P&ID, Navisworks or similar software to produce detailed drawing deliverables. In addition to communicating design issues to the project leads, the piping designer will be encouraged to work closely with layout, mechanical, Electrical &Instrumentation and structural designers within the group. Ideal candidate will be a university or technical college graduate and must have 5 or more years of experience in the design of process piping systems for the mining industries. This includes a familiarity of following P&ID’s in routing piping inside mills or below ground, and being able to recognize and communicate possible P&ID deficiencies. Candidates will have a Mechanical Technology Diploma or related discipline, or have equivalent knowledge and experience working in a piping designer role specializing in piping design. This position requires work on assignments with both conceptual and detailed design approaches and involves the production of detailed piping deliverables such as General Arrangement’s, Elevation Drawings, Details, Isometric Spool Drawings and PID’s. Responsibilities will include assigning and reviewing work of subordinate support staff, assessing performance of subordinates and developing, approving, and coordinating work schedules. Candidate must be capable of resolving project issues and problems by determining priorities and making sound recommendations concerning resources and staff. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a diligent work ethic, a strong technical background, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a highly specialized team environment.
