本周末去Hiking

打算周六去Maple Mountain，天气好应该能看到Georgia Strait后的Mt. Baker。欢迎同行。

Terrain: Rough

Maple Mountain Road Trailhead: Drive north from Victoria on highway #1 through Duncan to Herd Rd, turn right and follow this road to Maple Bay. Turn left on ? and follow this to Maple Mountain Road. Drive to the end of the road and park in the turn around area making sure you leave enough room for other vehicles to turn around.

Uses
Dayhike 3 boot (moderate). 1.5 hours one way. Suitable all year.

Description
Trail begins in the trees to the north of the parking area/turn around.

Features
This trail features forests and views.

Hazards
* some scree slopes to negotiate

好地方. 如果不下雨就去. 我周日去Mt Washington滑雪, 但愿这个Trail不会太累, 否则就滑不动了.

你滑雪当天往返么？Mt. Washington也是snowshoeing的好地方，只是要收费。这个冬季俺的snowshoes还一直在睡觉呢。

另外想不想x-country滑野雪啊？

人不会太多，大家商量一下看哪里方便就好了，顺路的接送一下。8：00如何？洋人hiking集合地点通常是Saanich city hall，也许那里可以免费停一天的车？开吻家附近有没有可以长时间停车的地方？大家基本上都是会路过那里的。

唉，以前我们都是6:30或更早集合，已经很照顾了。

清晨的风景是不一样的哦。

这个Trail很近也很容易，晚点也没关系。你建议个时间吧。

建议装备：

1. HIKING BOOTS
2. 1升水
3. 手套, 帽子
4. quick dry base layer & 至少1套御寒保暖衣服(e.g. fleece/down jacket)
5. 防雨防风外套
6. 背包及rain cover
7. snack bars
8. Gaiters
9. 防晒霜
10. 头灯/手电筒
11. emergency blanket

我会带小急救包/防水火柴等。

我的建议是9点钟在我家旁边的Millstream Village的停车场. 在那里随便停多久都没有人管. 大家可以Carpool前往.

因为是Daytrip, 不必那么多装备吧.
如果500米的升程, 大约3小时就可以往返了(如果路不难走的话), 这样的话 9点从Langford出发, 10点开始登山, 12点到顶(吃点东西) 14点回车里. 15点到家了. 应该问题不大吧.

到Millstream Village的路线容易. 1号公路14号出口右转, 红绿灯再右转, 停在Tomlee琴行门口就行了. 距离我家只有20米. 我电话4125345.
