Willing to offer some advices for job search
I am a four-year old immigrant and got back to my professional field 10 months ago in Canada. Right now, at the request of my company, I am working in the same field in USA as my previous one in China. I had same troubles as other new immigrants before. Bad Oral English skills, Lack of Canadian Work Experience and so on, prevented me from finding my professional work there. So, doing labour jobs, studying at college, 870 CO-OP & final placement, first professional job and second professional job are part of my route to get back my field. Basis on my experience, maybe I can offer some advices for job search to help Chinese immigrant settle down in beautiful Canada! You may send me "悄悄话" or reply this thread. I will try my best. Good luck for your job seach! ---Sorry, I could not type Chinese with this computer. |

The questions they asked for me mostly like : 1, what motivated you to apply for this job in CITY? 2, what you expect to work in CITY? 3, tell me about your current job? 4, tell me about the knowledge you have in "software's name"? 5, tell me about the job you worked in "company's name"? 6, did you work in an unionized environment? Then told me the next step it will be ( to take an exam in CITy if passed the telephone interview screen) My turn to ask questions, I asked 2 Qs. Total 13 mins. |

Thank you very much for "never-give-up"! I am looking for a job and have some questions about the job searching. Any reply would be appreciated. In most of cases, the job postings require bachelor degree plus working experinece. For a guy holding a master / phd degree, how should i distinguish myself (i got a MASc but don't have professional experince in ca)? is the advanced degree an advantage? |
