Patriot Scientific Sees Setting Aside About $7 Million to Pay 2-Cent Dividend
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (AP) -- Patriot Scientific Corp., a maker of microprocessors, software, and communications devices, said Tuesday it will issue a 2-cent dividend to common shareholders and warrant holders.

Shares of Patriot Scientific, which trade on the over-the-counter Bulletin Board, rose 5 cents, or about 23 percent, on the news to 25 cents in heavy trading volume.
Patriot Scientific, which received an equity investment from Advanced Micro Devices last February, said it expects to set aside about $7 million or more in funds to pay the dividend from its currently available cash and cash equivalents of about $17 million.
The dividend will be paid on March 22 to shareholders of record Feb. 24.
The company has said it had licensing revenues of $13 million in 2005, and an additional $10 million last month as a result of a license transaction with Hewlett-Packard regarding Patriot's jointly owned patent portfolio.
Last week, Patriot Scientific said it set a buyback program for up to 20 million stock warrants and the conversion and retirement of all outstanding debentures.
