Recent Grad – Database Consultant – Markham

Join CGI's Data Management team based in Markham. This team delivers and supports Data Management solutions to major clients in the telecommunications sector. The Data Management team is currently looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in either the technical and management streams.

The Database Analyst will be responsible for working on multiple projects at the same time. Assigned tasks are focused on data management services required during development and post implementation phases including the database support function.

The successful candidate will be trained to become a database administrator in one or more of the following database management systems namely Oracle and SQL Server for distributed systems, MVS/DB2 or MVS/IMS in the mainframe environment and Oracle and Teradata for the Enterprise Data Warehouse, based on assignment requirements. Additional training in data modeling, data analysis, and database design will be provided when needed.

Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelors/College Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Co-op experience would be an asset. You are a customer focused professional with exceptional consulting, communication and relationship building skills and potential. You should also possess the ability to analyze problems and provide workable solutions on time and on budget.

To succeed in this role you should be energetic, motivated, and achievement-oriented. You will have organizational awareness with the ability to balance service levels against quality of delivery. You are strong in character, confident, yet have the ability and will to "roll up your sleeves". You are disciplined with a strong orientation towards detail. Candidates motivated for future participation in the management team require astute business sense and superior communication skills.

The database Analyst will be required to work overtime and complete on-call duty and occasional traveling when necessary. As well, you will be responsible for off hours calls on a rotational basis (approximately one week per month).
