Taking VIA on 8/29 11:35 from Toronto to Montreal, stay in Montreal for two nights, 8/31 depart for Halifax, arrive in Halifax on 9/1 afternoon.

Flying back from Halifax on 9/5.

I am a single person, if you are looking for a travel mate or want someone to share the car rental cost in Halifax during this period, drop me a line.

By the way, does anyone know if there is cheap and clean guest house in Halifax?

Seven days journey ended so fast, the train trip from Toronto to Montreal was so so, while the part from Montreal to Halifax was good.

I ended up staying one night in the 4 star hotel for $135, another night in the hostel for $31 (6 people share a room).
The hostel is cool, especially for young people, you can meet backpackers from everywhere, just wish that I were 10 years younger
One guy in my room snored like thunder, so I only slept probably 4 or 5 hours, that's the risk I already expected...

The train seats are comfortable, like the airplane seats. You got a pillow and blanket as well. It is 2+1 layout, so if you are couples, you can take the 2 seats in one side, while as single, you can take another window seat on the other side. There are family seats as well, which is two rows facing each other.

There is dinning cart if you want to spend more money on your food; you can also take some small meal from the lounge, like the chunky soup for 3.75$, some burger for 3$, etc... you can sit in the lounge and chat with your friends (old or new) and enjoy the view outside...

There is Wi-Fi and power supply if you bring your laptop. The total travel time is around 21hours from Montreal Downtown to Halifax Downtown...

Try to book your flight and hotel as a package and you will see that you are saving much more that way.
