Frank Email;pleaseyou_69@hotmail.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- I currently study at the University of Toronto, majoring Commerce and Linguistics. My pronunciation is close to the native, though still having to work on my conversation. As an English learner, I understand which sound in English is hard for the Chinese to pronounce. You might get through this obstacle years later, time-consuming possibly, and then realize how to make correct sounds. But with me, you will find a shortcut to your goal. Pronunciation is not that hard as you might have thought of. Many of us trust English-speaking people (I did a couple of years before), but not every English C speaking person can be a qualified teacher. They can pronounce English quite accurately, however, they just DO NOT know how to bring you to that point as well. Pushing you to that point is my very mission. I wish that every Chinese wouldn’t lose to English C speaking people on the pronunciation. WORKING EXPERIENCE: I once taught English conversation, pronunciation, and TOEFL at a community center in East Toronto. $20 with 2 hours will help you make a big difference. Pronunciation can never be easier. Frank can be reached either by: Phone:416-4603168 Email; pleaseyou_69@hotmail.com |

hi, Comrades
It is clear that we care our pronunciation; we can see how many clicks we have got here. Communication matters, so does PRONUNCIATION. What I want to do is to share what I've learnt to people who really want it. Again, if you work now, my techniques will further help you effectively communicate with your colleagues. pleaseyou_69@hotmail.com 416-460-3168 此帖于 Apr 9th, 2005 01:12 被 Cool_China 编辑。 |

If you don't care your pronunciation, just disregard my posting. On the course of my studies I've summarized some pitfalls our Chinese always make on English pronuncation.Techniques I've developed to deal with those errors prove really helpful, but it doesn't work for people who are not interested in improving their pronunciation. Plus, pronunciation is not equal to the accent,e.g., US president speaks a typical Texas accent. Best., 此帖于 Apr 9th, 2005 01:11 被 Cool_China 编辑。 |

Again
I am pretty sure that we Chinese can pronounce 90% of English words correctly, so don't give up yourself by 'being able to communicate is enough'.

Yoyoz, A PH.D candidate of the U of T can instruct me for many things. But I do think some of them should improve their pronunciation. And believe it or not I know a person who speaks quite fluent English. You won't believe that he lives here for only 5 years. |

We shall fight on the hills. We shall fight in the streets. We shall fight blood and sweat and tears。这是多么矫健的句子!何尝有一个不是小学生所能用的字?又何尝有一字夸词浮句?中国人写英文,寻章摘句,多用深句,所以才学不好。例如对人十分佩服,你说I admire him profoundly。便是古人做文章的做法,因为英美人士并不这样讲,用admire greatly才是自然,而用I take off my hat to him. 大家要注意常用字及口语的用法;英文那个"有"字,当然有have,而口语却是have got ( Have you got any money?) 老外这样说,我们只好这样写! Forget about it(算了)!也是一种口语. You are telling me (我还得等你说)?也是一种口语. Not a chance (绝不会)也是一种口语。这四个单字got, forget, tell, chance都是极平常的字,而运用在口语中,却是学好英文的最重要的部分!若是单求长字,生字,看起来文雅好听的僻字,头一步便走错了.所以说善于灵活运用平常的字,是学习英文的不二法门。 By 林语堂 I hope this article is helpful to everyone. Cheers! |
