为鼓励国民为退休作储蓄，加拿大政府在1960年建立了全国性的投资计划注册退休储蓄计划RRSP。政府给予税务优惠，购买RRSP最直接、最有效的就是即时抵扣当年的个人收入税，而且在RRSP中本金及本金赚得的利息和资本增值，都可延税。越早开始RRSP注册退休储蓄计划，可使RRSP有更多的时间产生复利增长的效益。

2010RRSP的供款限额已经增长到$22,000,2011年为$22,450.最常持有的投资商品包括为定期储蓄，债券，信托，股票,互惠基金，保本基金等。

近期可以供投资人可以选择的机会如：

1)银行和信托公司的高息定期存款，年息3.35%；
2)政府债券， Manitobe省4.1%, Ontario省 4.65%；
3)银行/保险公司，汇丰信托7%，国联保险公司5.5%；
4)企业债券，如贝尔公司6%，Albert能源公司7%,
Swiss Chalet 7%, 加航7%等；

5)高收益信托投资如：
多伦多高级护理养老院分红7.8%，
Albert石油公司分红9.5%，
安省退休金管理公司分红7.5%，
Albert 能源设备公司分红12%等。


-可以使用2010-2011年的RRSP,或者将过去的RRSP转账;
-投资可以随时交易，没有锁定期，没有MER管理费；
-也可使用现金投资/RESP/TFSA等户口；
-现金投资分红收入比利息收入获得另外的政府税务优惠：

联邦税率在15%，
每$1,000利息收入应付税金$150，分红收入税金为0；
联邦税率在26%，
每$1,000利息收入应付税金$260，分红收入税金为101.50。
