Loser is looser, winner is winner. It does not matter where they are. Try it if you can, otherwise just stay where you are now, that will make you feel better.

It depends on what's your husband's plan: stay here to find a job or go back to China after graduation. You are not making a stand-alone decision.

Judging from your background and experience, I don't see any problem of you finding a similar position here. The issue is how old are you? Under 28 or above? If under 28, I encourage you to come and experience a totally different lifestyle, provided that your husband is still at University (because as soon as he graduates, he will face the problem of finding a job. Life will be totally different then.) Therefore, even if you two don't like here, you can still go back without fear of finding job back in China.

If you are over 28 http://chinasmile.infopop.net/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif and by the time you have made all the travel preparations, your husband has already graduated and he really wants to go back to China, I advice you to stay in China. Why? Take me for example, I am here almost a year and now working as Admin Assistant here with an average salary. My experience in and observation for this society are: job is hard to keep as compared to in China. In China, you are elite, here you are nobody. Even my English is good, all the cultural differences seem a barrier to me. Trying my best to tackle them. And you will have to consider a lot of problems, issues that you will never think of when you are in China. That's a tough job but challenging. C'est la vie.

I totally agree with Mr. Money: "Loser is looser, winner is winner. It does not matter where they are. " For positive people, they will always see the bright side of life. Difficulties to them are challenges. Check if you are this kind of people. If yes, welcome aboard.

Why don't you try to transfer your position to IBM CANADA? I know so many people been transferred from IBM Taiwain to IBM Canada, but that's some twenty, thirty years ago.

Smart thinking, eh?

That's true. I have some friends working for IBM who were once IBM China people. But they would take in computer guys instead of administrative guys because computer language is general while administrative support calls for local understanding.

i do not think you lose anything if you come to canada, you can try to improve your enlish and experience life in Canana. i do not think it will be difficult to get a secretary job if you go back. The best choice is to continue study in
Canada, go for business admin or accounting whatever. You will succeed in you life

Thanks for your warmly attention and kindly advice.

Yes I'm trying to get an internal transfer opportunity in IBM Canada but seems unaccessible based on IBM policy. However, IBMers can make an internal transfer once a year and there are considerable openings only for inside. I can do transfer only in IBM China, including ShangHai/BeiJing, but even cannot view the internal openings in IBM Canada via our intranet website.

Maybe I'll wait and see if I need to stay and postpone the date of set off.

Hi, Starrysky

This is the first I open you post, but by going through all the discussions, I believe that you finally have your right choice. Be positive no matter whare you are.

You have care too much on the job site. But that is not the life, right ? Life is to stay with the people who you really care and you really love to, right ? My suggestion is to stay with your husband no matter where. But ask yourself why you applied to Canada ? Do you regret your decision ? If yes, don't come.

Job is for supporting the life. Opportunity is not just drop from the sky. With positive attitute, you can find the oppotunity everywhere.

Good Luck! I do not know when and whee you come, but have good trip to Canada. Stay with the person you love. I am in Toronto and if you want to contact me, send mail to : lingling_yip1996@yahoo.ca

All the best to you and your family
