August 13, 2005, 2005 Cadboro Bay Triathlon and Duathlon Cadbory Bay, Gyro Park. Vancouver Island's only ocean swim in a calm sheltered bay. Beautiful scenic bike and run courses fully closed to traffic. Events include Olympic distance triathlon, sprint distance triathlon, relay triathlon and duathlon. August 25 to September 5, 2005 Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival. Don't miss out on Victoria's quirkiest theatrical performances at the annual Fringe Festival. Performances take place at various locations throughout the city.

August 27 from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm The 2nd Annual Pajama Party for Kids hosted by the Greater Victoria Down Syndrome Society. A community event for kids of all ages and abilities designed to increase awareness about children with Down syndrome, build community spirit, and raise funds for an important music therapy program. Features Juno-nominated children’s performer Rick Scott, as well as Daisy the Cow, Sparkles the Clown, kid’s karate, cutting edge hip-hop dance presentations, skateboard and mountain bike stunt demonstrations and a host of other family-friendly activities. As well, a pancake breakfast will be served featuring celebrity chefs and "flippers" to help with the event. Kids are encouraged to attend wearing their pajamas.

With more than 200 performances over 12 days, the Victoria Fringe is Vancouver Island's biggest annual theatre event. Victoria Dragon Boat Festival Society
The 11th annual Victoria Dragon Boat Festival will take place on the 12th - 14th of August, 2005. From approximately 9:00am until 6:00pm

Free Evening Concert featuring:
Ivonne Hernandez
Please join us at 7:30 p.m. on Friday August 12th to enjoy the
staggering fiddle talent of Ivonne Hernandez .

Ivonne is one of Canada's hottest young performers, and her
sizzling strings and incredible energy will leave you astounded.
Ivonne's music dances through a number of styles, surging from
traditional Scottish, to bluegrass, to country.

As a 3-time Grand North American Fiddle Champion, Ivonne is a
consummate entertainer, constantly in motion as she rips through
her songs.

This free concert will be held at the Dragon Stage at our Festival
site C conveniently located right on the edge of the Inner Harbour.


Paddlers' Dance
It's confirmed!

The Inner Harbour will rock on the evening of Saturday August 13th ,
as Time Well Wasted takes up the Dragon Stage.


Their set will start at 7:30 p.m. and wrap up at 10:00 p.m.
Entrance is free for all paddlers participating in the Victoria Dragon
Boat FestivalC make sure you still have your wristband on for easy i.d.
For non-paddlers, the cover is $5, payable at the door.

Time Well Wasted is a brilliant 12-piece band, covering hits from the 60's and 70's. Think back to The Supremes, Earth, Wind & Fire, Sly, Chicago, and Aretha. Then the summer of love fades into disco nights C Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, the Commodores, the Emotions, Kool & the Gang, and KC and the Sunshine Band.

So don't waste your time getting nostalgic… get funky! Time Well Wasted will play the main Dragon Stage, connected to the beer garden.

Paddlers C before the show, relax at the Paddlers' Dinner at the Strathcona Hotel C a five-minute stroll away.


The Forbidden City

Wander though the bustling core of the Festival site, a lively bazaar
where you can satisfy your appetite for Asian food and culture.
Marvel at the dance and martial arts demos. Sit for a serene tea
ceremony. Savour Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, and Indian food.
All in a lively, festive atmosphere rich with the sights, scents, and
sounds of Asia.

The Forbidden City opens its gates at lunchtime on Friday August 12th and welcomes you all weekend long.
