俺们这里也有buyer职位，感觉他们选择供货商，从供货商那里买东西。
不太清楚，和他们接触就是我们做各种PO report, invoice report.

Jessy is right, the retail buying activities are so different from procurement process at manufacturing and production companies. I used to work at Mark's work wearhouse for replenishment analysis support, and most of buyers there that have more relevant techniqical skills like knowing the clothing materials, trends and so on. The support team like us to complie with contracts, allocations,quantities and logisitical support.

Now I am working for a oil production company in the procurement field. Our buyers here deal with contractors and bidding process more often than visit suppliers or select products. Most of biding suppliers would be selected or reported by engineers rather than us. We focus on implenmenting stretagic business process rather than transactional buying activites.

You don't need to be a buyer, your salary is much higher than buyer. I have no choice, I am marketing and advertsing background. And I am not smart enough to study master or PHD in computer science or be some CFA or CA . That's one of the best option i have.

assistant buyer or merchandise associate. If u have MBA , u can apply to be buyer directly. I was lucky, coz i got into management trainee program. So I was chosen to fast track career path to be promoted to planning manager or buyer.

当众说话我是不怕的，当过老师，也卖过东西，在国内还背过幻灯机出去给人演讲，那会儿ppt都不流行，还做胶片呢。

主要还是你对这行有PASSION. 要没有, 硬逼着你去学CFA, CS什么的也能行的.
