according to the CEC rules, it seems it needs to be 25mm of AIR SPACE, insulation isn't "air space".. CEC 21st edition 2009 12-506 (4) Where non-metallic-sheathed cable is run in proximity to heating sources, transfer of heat to the cable shallbe minimized by means of an air space of at least (a) 25 mm between the conductor and heating ducts and piping; 5) Notwithstanding subrule 4, a thermal barrier comforming to the requirements of the National Building Code of Canada or local building legislation shall be permitting to be installed between the conductor and the heating sources to maintain ambient temperature of the conductor at not more than 30C. 6) Two conductor cable shall not be stapled on edge. ''loomex cable to be kept at least 25mmm [1''] away from all heating ducts and hot water pipes, a chunk of building insulation may be placed between the cable and the duct'' |
